About Us
Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of sustainable development in the real estate industry - one home at a time.
At Bennett Development, we reduce our carbon footprint throughout the entire construction process by developing sustainably from the ground up. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world with four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Our homes are developed with the goal of achieving the highest possible green certification level - LEED Platinum.
Everything is designed and built with efficiency at the forefront: from the demolition of existing structures, the green building materials used in construction - recycled steel and reclaimed wood, Florida native plants and trees, smart home applications with app integration to minimize energy use, and near net-zero energy emissions by means of Solar Panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3 for energy storage. We also install a Tesla Wall Connector, a 240 volt charger, to charge your electric vehicle from the convenience of your home. This complete Energy Ecosystem allows your home to be virtually self-powered* by the sun. For homeowners, this means having control over your utility and protection from the outages and blackouts common to storm and hurricane prone Florida. The utility savings with solar provide for a substantial return on investment, saving homeowners money.
Solar Lux in Coconut Grove will be our first project to offer the complete sustainable Energy Ecosystem with Platinum LEED Certification. The future is now, live in it!
*NOTE: Florida Power & Light (FPL) requires customers to pay a small monthly fee to be connected to the energy grid. This is a fantastic benefit that allows customers to participate in FPL’s net metering program. Customers enrolled in net metering can sell excess solar power back to the grid as well as buy power back from the grid - it’s a 1:1 credit with net metering.
